The province’s education minister says additional measures being implemented at schools outside the Avalon region beginning next week have been well received by the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers Association.
Areas outside the eastern region of the province are now in Alert Level 4, meaning schools will be reopened on Wednesday in central and western Newfoundland and Labrador.
Some schools will be operating under scenario one, following enhanced guidelines for physical distancing and class cohorts. Schools unable to follow those guidelines will operate under scenario two, which is a 50/50 model comprised of both in-class and online instruction. For more information, see the province’s back to school plan.

Minister Tom Osborne says he spoke with NLTA President Dean Ingram about the changes, noting conversations with the association will continue over the coming days.
As Osborne understands it, Ingram considers the additional measures being put in place as a “positive move forward.”
