A man from Fortune has been charged with setting fire to two homes in the Burin Peninsula town on Sunday.
37-year-old Terrence Connors was arrested and remains in custody following the incidents.
RCMP got a call late Sunday afternoon that Connors was at a home where he was not supposed to be according to recent court orders.
While en route, police were notified that someone had set fire to the house as well as another one nearby, both on Bunkerhill Road.
Upon arrival, police found one home with extensive damage while the other fire was quickly put out by a neighbour, with minor damage. No one was in either home at the time.
Police say Connors was arrested at the scene without incident.
He appeared before a judge via teleconference yesterday and is charged with two counts of arson, break and enter, and three counts of breaking conditions of previous court orders.
