A local business owner says Bill C-21, the federal government’s new gun law, will have a significant impact on his business.
Tom Davis is the owner and team leader at Frontline Action, a St. John’s business that offers paintball and airsoft sports along with other amusements.
He says a clause has been added that would cause anything that looks like a real gun to be prohibited.
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says the clause targets airsoft but Davis says it will also affect props for the movie and TV industry, BB and pellet guns as well as paintball guns.
Davis says the law could make the guns illegal with possible jail time for their use. NDP MP Jack Harris has asked for the clause to be either removed or amended.
Davis says a petition asking that the clause be amended or removed is now in circulation. If passed as is, Davis says it will shut down hundreds of businesses across Canada.
