Newfoundland and Labrador has reported five new cases of COVID-19 today.
Four of the new cases are in the Eastern Health region. Three of those are close contacts of previously-known cases.
One is a healthcare worker at the Trepassey Community Health Clinic. Eastern Health says the clinic is closed for the day, and the worker is isolating at home.
The fifth case is in Western Health, and is related to international travel. Contact tracing for all cases is underway.
As well, there have been 33 more recoveries, all within the Eastern region, bringing the number of active cases in the province down to 121.
Eight people are in hospital—one less than yesterday—and two of those patients are in intensive care.
The source of a confirmed case at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony earlier this week is still unknown. The investigation continues.
Nearly 114,000 people have been tested for COVID-19.
Outbreak Notification at Alberta Work Site
Meanwhile, the Department of Health is advising rotational workers of an outbreak at the Tourmaline Oil Musreau Field Site in Alberta.
The department was contacted by the Public Health Agency of Canada as workers from this province attend the site.
Rotational workers who have returned to this province in the last two weeks must self-isolate. The Department of Health asks them to fill out the online self-assessment or contact 811 to arrange for testing.
