The Brad Gushue rink began defence of its title with a 6 – 2 win over Epping of Ontario in last night’s opening draw at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary, Alberta. It was 2-1 for Canada until the sixth end when they added a pair after a triple takeout by Mark Nichols.
Newfoundland and Labrador’s Greg Smith was stone for stone with Quebec right to the finish, but Quebec ended with a 7-6 win.
The next draw is lunchtime but neither Smith nor Gushue is scheduled to play.
