Now that the City of St. John’s knows where most accidents occur, they plan to pay outside consultants to tell them why.
The city used its own staff to look at eight years’ worth of stats to rank the riskiest places to drive, walk, or ride a bike in St. John’s.
Not surprisingly, intersections along Kenmount Road, Kelsey Drive, Thornburn Road, and at Rawlins Cross topped the list when it came to collisions with injuries.
But the city says it still needs another report—this one to be done by outside consultants—to tell them how to make those areas safer. It’s not clear how much that report would cost.
Councillors will review the collision report done by staff during the weekly Committee of the Whole meeting on Wednesday.
