Two church communities are joining forces to spread a little cheer and positivity in the Arnold’s Cove area.
The Anglican and Pentecostal churches have come up with a contest encouraging residents to paint positive messages for display outside the church.
Rev. Neal Buffett of the Anglican Church says it stemmed from an initiative by the local Pentecostal Church which organized a scavenger hunt for the children.
He thought it would be nice to continue the momentum of community building, so he cut off a piece of plywood and handed it to one of the families in his parish to paint with Dr. Janice Fitzgerald’s message “Hold fast.”
The results were so nice that he fastened it to the front bridge of the church.
Now Rev. Buffett and Pastor Taylore of the Pentecostal Church are inviting people to paint a series of plywood boards with messages of kindness and support. Names of those who participate will go in for a couple of prizes offered by the local business community.
They include a $25 dollar gift certificate from A&W and a gift basket from the local Foodland.
