Police in Halifax have issued a warning about a high-risk sex offender who committed most of his crimes while living in the metro St. John’s region.
Halifax Regional Police say Gerald Edmund Pike is now residing in the Halifax region.
The 53-year-old was recently released from jail, where he was serving time for sexual assault, theft, uttering threats and failure to comply with court orders.
Pike was sentenced in 2014 after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl twice in the same day in St. John’s. He was on probation during the incident, which was also caught on surveillance video.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Pike has been assessed as being at a high risk to re-offend and has been ordered not to have any contact with children under the age of 18.
Halifax Police are asking citizens to call them at 902-490-5020 if they believe Pike is violating his release conditions.
Pike is on a long-term supervision order and will be required to follow strict conditions including restrictions on any activity that involves contact with children under the age of 18.
He is to abstain from the consumption or possession of alcohol or drugs and is not to possess any weapon, knife, or sharp instrument outside his residence.
