While the future of sports in Newfoundland and Labrador for the coming year remains up in the area, the Minor Baseball Association is determined to make things work.
Executive director Kristyn Coley says this is an important time of year for the association, as now they are planning for the upcoming season.
Coley says there is an added layer of difficulty with the uncertainty of the current situation. Last year, they spent a lot of time doing planning for different scenarios, so they feel they are ahead of the game this year if competitions aren’t allowed.
However, Coley says there is potentially a long wait ahead for the resumption of sports. Under the revised alert levels, sports have been bumped to alert level two, whereas last year practice could resume under alert level three.
She says that it is disappointing, but notes that they are ready to do what is needed to get things up and running—saying that they have been planning for their season to look very similar to last year’s.
