A Bay Bulls physician has been counselled to comply with the Canadian Medical Association’s Code of Ethics and Professionalism after spreading misinformation about COVID-19.
Dr. Peter Morry was cautioned by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador to stop encouraging members of the public to breach public health orders of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald.
A public health directive has been to wear masks in public to help reduce the potential spread of COVID-19 or the virus’ new variants.
Morry’s personal Facebook page includes posts casting doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and the wearing of masks, some of the posts he’s shared have been cited by Facebook as false information.
Morry was found guilty of professional misconduct by an adjudication tribunal in 2018 following a patient complaint.
