A 32-year-old St. John’s man was arrested on the Southern Shore following numerous reports of suspicious activity in Brigus South earlier this week.
RCMP were called after a man was confronted late Tuesday night after being spotted trespassing on a homeowner’s property. He left the scene in a vehicle but somebody got his licence plate number and called police.
Ferryland RCMP located the suspect vehicle abandoned in Cappahayden after it ran out of gas. The driver, who had fled on foot, was located a short distance away and arrested.
The vehicle, which had been stolen from St. John’s, was seized by RCMP.
Police received numerous calls Wednesday morning from residents of Brigus South who reported that items had been stolen from their vehicles.
Anyone in Brigus South with information or whose vehicles were entered on March 9 and 10 is asked to contact Ferryland RCMP.
