A man and woman are scheduled to appear in court today after being arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Mount Pearl yesterday afternoon.
RNC say a woman, armed with a knife, approached a clerk at a convenience store on Barbour Drive shortly after noon, demanding cash and cigarettes. She fled the scene in a car driven by a man.
The car ended up on a property on Empire Avenue where the driver was pursued on foot. Police Service Dog Gunner tracked the 37-year-old who was arrested and taken into custody.
A 33-year-old woman was also arrested in the area.
The pair were held in custody pending a court appearance.
Two Suspects Arrested Near Empire Avenue Following Armed Robbery in Mount Pearl
Police Service Dog Gunner helped to nab two suspects in an armed robbery earlier today.
Police were called to a convenience store on Barbour Drive in Mount Pearl shortly after noon.
A woman entered the store, presented a knife, and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk. She got in a vehicle, driven by a man, and left the scene.
The vehicle was found a short time later in the driveway of a home on Empire Avenue.
The driver drove to the rear of the property and then fled from the scene. He was arrested a short time later by RNC police dog Gunner. A woman was also arrested in the area.
A 37-year-old man is charged with flight from police, robbery, and theft of a motor vehicle. A 33-year-old woman is charged with robbery, disguise with intent, and theft of a motor vehicle.
Both are being held in custody pending court appearances.
