A concept design has been completed as part of efforts to modernize Churchill Square and the city is seeking further public input on the results.
The city is now looking to hear from more residents on reimagining the shopping area. Two virtual information sessions are scheduled for March 25; a morning session at 10:30 and an evening session at 6:30.
The public engagement process began in 2020, and the new concept was developed with those ideas and suggestions from the public and businesses in the area in mind.
At the time residents said they would like Churchill Square to be more pedestrian and community-oriented, include upgraded infrastructure, with additional parking and greater accessibility.
They also suggested better traffic flow as well as more green space and improved snow clearing. The new concept will be presented to council this year and will include the new input shared by residents.
Registration for the virtual sessions can be found at engagesjohns.ca or by calling the Access Centre at 311 or 754-2489.
