The Federation of School Councils is pleased to see a continuation of online learning for high school students across the province.
The Department of Education’s decision, in conjunction with the English and Francophone school districts, reflects the results of a recent survey conducted by the Federation.
The survey of parents, educators, and councils found that 319 of the 366 responses received supported full online learning for high school students in the province.
Forty-four supported a blended approach while only three wanted students back in class full-time.
The President of the Federation of School Councils, Don Coombs, says the results of the survey were conveyed to the Department of Education prior to last week’s announcement. He’s pleased that the decision reflects what parents and educators already knew.
As for the return to class this Thursday for those in K to 9, Coombs says they’re okay with it as long as the recommendations of the Chief Medical Officer of Health are met.
