Rotational workers in the province are calling for a further easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
Following Friday’s COVID-19 briefing, rotational workers were granted more freedom upon receiving a negative test. However, not all workers are offered the same freedom.
Derek Barrett, an administrator for the Rotational Workers of Newfoundland and Labrador Facebook page, says it’s a positive step forward, but the restrictions are not where they need to be.
He says that while the restrictions work for him, more could be done for people working internationally or at outbreak sites.
Barrett also says he would like to see more testing done at the airports on arrival.
Barrett says if rapid tests were conducted at the airports, then rotational workers would have an idea if they risk spreading the virus to people while in transit.
