Walmart Canada has confirmed for VOCM News that its Topsail Road location in St. John’s is one of six stores slated for closure across Canada.
Walmart made the announcement as part of a $500-million upgrade to 60 per cent of its stores across the country.
President and CEO of Walmart Canada, Horacio Barbeito says the company is “on a mission to modernize” all aspects of its business, including its stores. All employees at the store will be offered positions at other nearby Walmart locations.
No date for the closure has been given at this time.
