The Provincial Advisory Council on Tourism has suggested that Newfoundland and Labrador open its borders to the rest of Canada by July 1, but for Public Health it is far too early to make that determination.
The report recommends that the province open up to vaccinated Canadians who receive a negative COVID test prior to departure in order to help prevent further damage to an industry that has been rocked by the pandemic.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says we need to see what will happen as vaccination rates increase first. She says only time will tell when the province is ready to open up.
