School Sports NL says it’s ready to go if and when it receives the green light to resume sporting activity in the province’s schools.
The rapid spread of the UK variant of the COVID virus last month was aided through interactions in the school community and sporting activities.
Executive director Karen Richard says the benefits of school sports are well documented, but maintaining public health during a pandemic is also important.
“Ultimately the schools are there for the education and the learning environment, and that has to be a priority,” says Richard.
