The Jewish Chabad of Newfoundland is distributing special kits to the faithful to help celebrate Passover this weekend.
Passover, which occurs between the night of Saturday, March 27 to just after nightfall on Sunday, April 4, marks the exodus of Jews from Egypt 3,333 years ago.
Rabbi Chanan Chernitsky says special Passover kits have been put together to help Jews who, for the second year in a row, will likely be celebrating in their own bubbles.
They include hand-made Matzah, and a seder kit which includes a broiled chicken neck, an egg, Romaine lettuce, and horseradish, all of which hold special meaning and significance.
Rabbi Chernitsky says Passover is an important period in the Hebrew calendar. He says it’s a time for individuals to think about breaking out of their own “Egypts,” or limitations, by leaving their comfort zone, reach goals, and make the world a better place.
Jews who have not received a Passover kit are welcome to contact the Chabad at 341-8770.
