The case against a man accused of killing his step-father just before Christmas should pick up steam now that new lawyers have been assigned to his case.
26-year-old Brandon Noftall was charged with second-degree murder after 41-year-old Robert Noftall was stabbed to death in Renews on December 18.
Brandon Noftall, who was arrested the day of the killing, has been in custody at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary ever since.
He was expected to enter a plea earlier this month but his Legal Aid lawyer had to withdraw from the case due to a conflict.
Two Legal Aid lawyers have since been assigned to the case, which will be called again on April 6 once they’ve had time to get up to speed.
In addition to the second-degree murder charge, Noftall is also accused of assault and breaking previous court orders, including one that prohibited him from carrying a knife.
