The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador has dropped to one.
The single case is in the Eastern Health region, and there is no one in hospital due to the virus.
This marks the first time the province has reported a single active case since September 26, 2020.
There were no new confirmed cases reported today. The Department of Health says the positive test reported yesterday is a close contact of a previously-identified case.
The entire province moves to Alert Level 2 as of Saturday morning, which means many businesses will now be able to open with reduced capacity, and sports will be able to resume, albeit with certain restrictions which were not previously in place.
