Some drivers are feeling the heat, but in this case, it’s not coming from the sun.
Police are warning that milder temperatures and sunshine do not justify speeding and they’re taking action.
Four drivers recently had their vehicles impounded after each clocking in at over 150 km/h on the radar as part of a joint police enforcement effort on Wednesday when temperatures rose to the teens on the Avalon Peninsula.
RCMP and RNC set up on the Trans-Canada near Butter Pot Park and monitored speed levels of passing traffic using a hand-held device. The drivers were clocked at speeds exceeding 150 km/h including one at 173 km/h.
Eighty speeding tickets were handed out Wednesday.
