A man well known in local hockey circles has passed away.
Shannon “Shaq” Coady was the equipment manager for the St. John’s Maple Leafs.
Glenn Stanford is the Governor and Chief Operating Officer with the Newfoundland Growlers and held the same position with the Baby Leafs back in the 1990s.
He took to Twitter to express his sadness at Coady’s passing, saying he had a profound impact on professional hockey in the province and throughout the hockey world.

Stanford says teams, players, coaches, trainers, and executive staff all have “many positive memories of Shannon” since he started with the St. John’s Maple Leafs back in 1991.
