It’s all over but the crying, or perhaps the court challenges.
What will likely go down as the longest and perhaps the most unusual election in the history of the province is finally over.
The deadline for the receipt of special mail-in ballots passed at 4 p.m. yesterday, and the results are expected at noon tomorrow.
Even though the election is over, there’s no guarantee that the questions surrounding the process, and some of the issues that have arisen over the last ten weeks, will end.
Some are already anticipating the probability of court challenges, but Memorial University political scientist Kelly Blidook says it will take some time to see what, if any, challenges might be necessary.
Legally, Elections NL needs to report everything that happened within a month of the conclusion of the election. He doesn’t think anything of significance should happen before that report is complete and it’s been examined by legal eyes.
VOCM News will have the latest election results live at noon when they are released by Elections NL.
