Student Vote NL has released the results of its tally of nearly 5000 ballots cast by elementary and high school students across the province.
Their results, representing 32 of the province’s 40 electoral districts mirror to a large degree, the provincial election results.
The students had the Liberals garnering 38 per cent of the vote with 17 seats, they put the PCs at 14 seats with 40 per cent of the popular vote, but they showed Ches Crosbie losing his seat in Winsor Lake.
The students also put the NDP with one seat, and Alison Coffin losing her seat in Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi.
Student Vote is a program of CIVIX, a non-partisan Canadian charity dedicated to strengthening democracy through civics and citizenship education in school-aged children.
