Weather watches and warnings are in effect for much of the island today as a messy bag of rain, freezing rain, and snow batters the island.
In the east, Environment Canada meteorologist Juliana Paul explains that things are far from over as the freezing rain makes a full transition over to snow. The region is expected to get between 10 and 15 cm more.
She says the winds will pick up significantly as well, between 70 and 90 km/h, making blowing snow a concern.
The southern Avalon will experience slightly stronger winds, with gusts up to 100 km/h.
The wintry weather is expected to continue in central and the west coast as well with snowfall accumulations up to 15 cm.
There is also a wreckhouse wind warning in effect. So far, Paul explains that maximum gusts of 126 km/h have been recorded, but those winds have died down slightly.
