The Town of Woody Point is thanking the Southside Fire Department after battling a building fire in Winterhouse Brook.
The building had formerly operated as a fish plant and was being used as storage.
At around 4 p.m. Saturday, the Southside Fire Department responded to a call after someone spotted smoke coming from the building.
Mayor and volunteer firefighter Greg Osmond says they battled the flames until late last night, and were called this morning around 11:30 a.m. when the blaze flared up again. The fire has since been extinguished.
Woody Point is asking residents to conserve water for the next few hours as the town’s water tank refills.
