St. John’s City Council has approved almost $1.4-million worth of community, capital grants and subsidies to various groups.

The list runs the gamut from well-known artists and musicians to the Autism Society to the Newfoundland Disc Golf Association.

Councillors were quick to note the importance of funding such a variety of organizations, noting it’s more of an investment than an expenditure.
