It will be a wet and windy offering from Mother Nature today and tonight affecting most areas of the island but parts of Labrador are in for a spring snowfall.
The south and southwest coasts are in for a deluge of rain between 30 and 40 mm. Winds will be high especially along the southern strip. For example, the Wreckhouse and western regions will see gusts over 100 km/h.
The Channel-Port aux Basques area will get 30 to 40 mm of rain, except 60 mm over higher terrain.
Metro and the rest of the island are in for southeasterlies of about 80-100 km/h for the most part but gusts up to 120 km/h are forecast in some exposed coastal areas.
The blustery weather has begun on the west and southwest coast with roads advisories out and some schools closed.
Meanwhile, Happy Valley-Goose Bay will see 15 cm of the white stuff today with another 5-10 tonight; Labrador coast from Hopedale to Black Tickle will see 15-25 cm of snow; southeastern Labrador from L’Anse-au-Clair to Norman Bay will see 15 to 20 cm except locally up to 30 cm inland and over higher terrain; Churchill Falls and Churchill Valley will get 10 cm of snow; Upper Lake Melville and Eagle River will see 20 to 25 cm.
