The FFAW has a rally planned tomorrow in Clarenville to bring awareness to the impact closure of the3Ps cod fishery will have on harvesters, enterprises, local businesses, and hundreds of families in coastal communities that rely on the fishery.
The FFAW has called a rally for tomorrow at 11 a.m. outside MP Churence Rogers’ office on Manitoba Drive.
FFAW President Keith Sullivan says harvesters are willing to see reductions in quotas when they are warranted and “make sense.” However, he says that’s not the case when it comes to the cod fishery off the south coast.
The stock has seen relative stability in recent years says Sullivan, and the problem is not harvesting where quotas remain very low.
