The local government in St. Pierre et Miquelon are asking the territory’s prefect to present a unified request to join the Atlantic bubble with Newfoundland and Labrador.
The President of the territorial council of St. Pierre-Miquelon, Bernard Briand addressed a letter to the Prefect on April 1st, asking them to contact Premier Andrew Furey about joining the Atlantic Bubble.
The international border between St. Pierre and Fortune closed around a year ago, halting travel between the two regions.
The French territory launched its vaccine campaign on March 20th, and as of April 1st over 50% of the eligible population had received their first dose. There are no active cases of COVID-19 currently on the archipelago.
