Marine Atlantic is having a change of heart on the latest round of rate increases. It’s going to cancel them.
The Crown corporation increased commercial fares on the gulf route by two per cent as of April 1, and commercial and passenger fares on Argentia by 2.5 per cent.
The “Drop Trailer” management fee went up by 3.4 per cent on both routes.
This morning, Marine Atlantic tweeted out that because of the impact of COVID-19 on the economy, it is rolling back the April 1 rate increase.
Marine Atlantic says it will automatically refund the difference in cost to those who have already paid via credit card.
