A man from Kelligrews will be hitting the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean in late May or early June to support the fight against childhood cancer.
Scott Doyle plans to paddle his kayak from Conception Bay South to Port De Grave, a 17 km trek, in support of Candlelighters NL, a non-profit organization that provides support to families whose kids have been diagnosed with cancer.

For Doyle, the journey is unprecedented, but he believes it is attainable.
He has done a 16 km trip down the Humber River before, so he doesn’t believe this trip will be too bad.
Erin Collett, family programs and event coordinator with Candlelighters NL, notes the last year has been difficult for them as many of their usual fundraising events have been hampered by the pandemic.
The goal for the fundraiser is $5,000.
