St. John’s councillors welcomed Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary back to the chambers yesterday.
O’Leary took a leave of absence to run for the NDP in the district of Mount Scio in the 10-week-long provincial election.
Despite the loss to incumbent Liberal Sarah Stoodley, she said it was a pleasure to be back with her council colleagues.
She also thanked the public for their patience in her absence.
O’Leary says it’s been an interesting journey, adding it’s a privilege to be on the council and that she’s looking forward to resuming her work as the deputy mayor for the city.
