Memorial University is preparing for a return to in-person instruction come September but just how that will look is difficult to tell at this point, especially with much of Canada into a third wave of the pandemic.
Josh Lepawsky VP External (President-Elect) of the Faculty Association at MUN, says they’re looking forward to getting back to class as there is only so much that can be done remotely.
He says it’s not a question of whether online learning is better or worse, but the issue is that it’s different. Lepawsky has found that that difference will accommodate some students and professors, but not others. The same holds true for in-person: it works well for some, but not others.
The MUNFA VP says there are many unknowns, particularly as it relates to international students and those from other provinces.
MUNFA hopes the university administration will take everything into account where faculty will have to plan for 100 per cent online, 100 per cent in-class or some unknown per cent in a hybrid model.
