Two women are facing a number of charges following a recent fire in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

RCMP and the fire department were called to a residential fire Friday evening. Police located the homeowner who had injuries as the result of an apparent assault. The man was taken to hospital for treatment and released and the fire was knocked down by firefighters.

Two women, 34-year-old Margaret Harris and 33-year-old Jennis Judy Mary Harris, were arrested and are being held pending another court appearance today.

Margaret is charged with assault causing bodily harm, arson with disregard for human life, arson resulting in property damage, and failure to comply with a probation order among other breaches.

Jennis is facing charges of assault causing bodily harm and failure to comply with a probation order.

The police investigation continues.
