An internal review due in part to the current economic circumstances has resulted in some changes to the land tenure schedule in the province’s offshore.
The C-NLOPB has decided not to proceed with a Call for Bids in the Jeanne d’Arc or southeastern regions of the Newfoundland offshore this year, and the decision to proceed with future calls for bids in the Jeanne d’Arc region will be assessed on an annual basis.
Meanwhile, the timing of four low activity sectors in the offshore regulator’s Scheduled Land Tenure System has also been changed.
The scheduled close of the South Eastern Newfoundland region has been pushed back to 2023, while Labrador South is scheduled to close in 2025 instead of 2023.
The closure of Southern Newfoundland has been pushed back to 2027 from 2022 while North Eastern Newfoundland has also been pushed back five years to 2029 from 2024.
