Over $71,000—and counting—has been raised as the result of the VOCM Cares Ronald McDonald House Charities of NL Radiothon.
Ronald McDonald House took to the airwaves today to raise money to help families from afar whose children are stricken with illness and have to stay at The Janeway.
A man from Corner Brook who spent 10 months at the Janeway when he was 17 years old fighting testicular cancer exemplifies the role which Ronald McDonald House plays in the health care system.
Josh Skinner spent the ten months going through surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatment, and being able to stay at RM House helped in his recovery. Not only was it less expensive than a hotel, but staff went above and beyond at every turn.
He says his mom and dad had to take time off work in order to be with him. As hard as it was, it was easier to have his supports with him instead of back home in Corner Brook.
