Two more defeated candidates are taking Elections NL and Bruce Chaulk to court in separate actions.
Tory Jim Lester lost his Mount Pearl North seat to Liberal Lucy Stoyles by 109 votes and Sheila Fitzgerald lost by just over 200 votes to Liberal Krista Lynn Howell in St. Barbe-L’Anse aux Meadows
Lester says his goal is to right the wrongs for future elections and that his goal is to get to the bottom of the problems with the election so that people have faith in the democratic process going forward. He says the questions must be answered as to whether it was constitutional and legal as per the Elections Act.
His next step will be to serve papers on Elections NL and its Chief Electoral Officer.
NDP Leader Alison Coffin is also challenging the election in St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi. Coffin, who lost by 53 votes, is also seeking a recount in the district.
