There are two new confirmed COVID cases in the province, both related to travel.

One involving a man in the Western Health region is related to domestic travel, while the other, involving a man in his 60s in the Eastern Health region is related to international travel. Contact tracing is underway.

There is one new recovery, leaving 15 active cases in the province—six in the Eastern Health region and nine in Western Health.

One person is in hospital due to the virus.

Public Health Issues Advisories

Officials have issued an advisory related to travel due to one of today’s confirmed cases.

Any passenger on Air Canada Flight 8008 that departed Toronto on Saturday, April 10, and arrived in Deer Lake on Sunday, April 11, is asked to arrange for COVID-19 testing.

Meanwhile, rotational workers are being alerted to an outbreak at the Royal Camp Services in Grand Prairie, Alberta.

Any workers who have returned home from that site in the last two weeks must isolate for 14 days and contact 811 for testing. Those workers must complete two weeks of self-isolating away from household members regardless of their test result.

Western Health Concludes Testing Clinics with No Sign of Community Spread

COVID testing clinics in Corner Brook and Meadows have wrapped up with a good uptake from local residents.

1,243 tests were completed over a three-day period, with no presumptive positive results picked up either through rapid testing or confirmed lab tests.

Those results show no signs of community transmission of the virus.

Because the number of people who requested a test was greater than the number of appointments available, those who requested a vaccine and who are not experiencing symptoms will not be booked for a test at this time.
