People interested in trying to book the COVID vaccine at Eastern Health in the 65-69 age category are having trouble accessing the phone lines and some do not have access to computer technology.
Eastern Health is now taking appointments for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines for everyone 65 years of age and older.
You do not have to pre-register to book an appointment, and anyone who has already pre-registered for a vaccine in the 70 and older age group should go ahead and book their appointments.
Residents are encouraged to book online using Google Chrome as their browser and going through the Eastern Health portal. When prompted, type in the key ECOV-KYZTQ-21.
The toll-free number (1-833-951-3884) opened at 8:00 this morning and immediately became overwhelmed.
You will hear “all of our lines are busy – please call back later.” The speaker also refers you to an alternative website if you have any questions about the booking process. However, the website people are directed to for Eastern Health, Western and Labrador-Grenfell doesn’t appear to take you anywhere with any clear information regarding vaccinations.
For Eastern Health, Western and Labrador-Grenfell, go to www.nlchi.nl.ca, and for Central, go to www.centralhealth.nl.ca.
