An investigation into an illegally parked pickup truck has led to the arrest of two people in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on cocaine charges.
Labrador Traffic Services noticed a pickup parked in a no parking zone outside the Post Office on Grenfell Street in Happy Valley-Goose Bay around 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13.
Police noticed 37-year-old Joelene Pardy leaving the post office, walking towards the truck. As they spoke with her they notice 56-year-old Alain Binet in the back seat of the truck.
The pair was arrested on conditions and the truck was seized after police Service Dog Jerry signaled the potential presence of drugs.
A search uncovered a quantity of cash, suspected cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Pardy and Binet are each facing charges of possession of cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, and possession of the proceeds of crime—in this case, money.
