The local tourism industry received a boost earlier this week as the province announced over $171,000 for various tourism and hospitality operations.
The province’s tourism sector has been hit hard by the pandemic as all non-essential national and international travel has been virtually shut down.
The funding will go to seven separate local businesses to help enhance marketing and business development opportunities.
These businesses include:
Wild Cove Adventures – a new tourism product in Salvage, was approved for $40,639 to assist with the marketing and promotion of its accommodations and amenities.
Where-Ya-Wannabee Outfitting Lodge – a business based in Corner Brook that operates a remote outfitting operation, was approved for $33,375 to support the implementation of its marketing strategy.
Twillingate Adventure Tours – was approved for $31,125 to help refresh various marketing initiatives, including a new website and other enhanced media material.
The Anchor Inn Motel – was approved for $28,980 to support marketing activities, including website development and other promotional material.
Spirity Pond – operating a campsite located inside Gros Morne National Park, was approved for $23,402 to support an extensive multimedia advertising campaign.
Captain Cook Bed and Breakfast and Cottages – located in York Harbour, was approved for $12,465 to expand and improve marketing activities, including enhancements to its website.
Victoria Outfitters & Lodge – located on the Victoria River, was approved for $3,028, to undertake several marketing initiatives promoting its operations.
