There are three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province today—one in the Eastern Health Region and two in the Western Health area.
Two are related to travel within Canada while the third is a close contact of a previous case.
Contact tracing is underway. There are 25 active cases in Newfoundland and Labrador: 14 in the Eastern Health region, and 11 in Western Health.
The source of the case reported on Thursday, April 8, in the Eastern Health region remains under investigation.
Public Health officials are asking passengers who traveled on Air Canada Flight 8018 from Montreal to St. John’s on Thursday, April 15 to arrange for COVID testing.
Meanwhile, as of today’s update, the provincial government’s COVID information hub says 122,791 people have received at least one dose of vaccine.
Another travel advisory has been issued following a recent COVID case reported in the province.
Public Health officials are asking passengers on board Air Canada Flight 8008 that departed Toronto on Monday, April 12, and arrived in Deer Lake on Tuesday, April 13, to arrange for COVID testing.
Even if passengers receive a negative result, they’re being encouraged to continue monitoring for symptoms for a full 14 days from the time of their arrival in the province.
