Eastern Health is now taking appointments for AstraZeneca vaccination clinics in various communities throughout the region. People 55-64 years of age can book an appointment online.

A few weeks ago, Public Health in Newfoundland and Labrador paused the administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine for adults under the age of 55.

The decision was based on new guidelines from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization after reports of rare instances of vaccine-induced VIPIT in people four to 20 days after inoculation.

Health Canada has since reviewed the vaccine and found that the benefits outweigh the risks.

Clinics are located in Paradise, Harbour Grace, St. John’s, Marystown and Grand Bank.
