The first federal budget in more than two years will be delivered today and Newfoundland and Labrador will be watching with more than a passing interest.
The Liberals have made no secret of their green-energy focus, and this province is hoping Muskrat Falls will be the beneficiary through either a direct or indirect investment. But the feds will have to balance that with pressure from the oil and gas sector for support to sustain the industry in the short term.
A promised national child care system will be music to the ears of government and local operators.
Meanwhile, everything from tourism to the fishery sector will be on tenterhooks as the Trudeau Liberals try to satisfy all the wants.
The federal budget will be delivered this afternoon at 5:30 Newfoundland time.
