Pre-sentence reports in relation to an animal abuse case on the province’s southwest coast had to be set over to next month because one of the two people convicted in the case came down with “flu-like” symptoms.
The courts say anyone with a runny nose or other cold or flu-like symptoms will not be allowed in the court so the matter was set over until May 21.
The case of “Mittens the cat” has generated great interest, even resulting in public rallies.
Late last year, Peter Rossiter of O’Regan’s and Jody Anderson of Port aux Basques were found guilty of killing the cat in September of 2019.
A court official tells VOCM News the pre-sentencing report was set over yesterday after Rossiter came down with flu-like symptoms.
