RCMP say the Trans-Canada at the base of the Starlite Trail about 30 kilometres from Port aux Basques is blocked to traffic due to an overturned transport truck.

Winds are gusting to over 100 km/h in the Wreckhouse on the southwest coast, prompting highway officials to ask all traffic to pull over until winds subside.

Those southeasterly winds will only pick up throughout the day to gust to 130 km/h in the Wreckhouse, and 100 elsewhere in the west.

Marine Atlantic is on hold for the time being because of high winds in the Gulf.
