As of today, most health authorities have opened up their COVID-19 vaccination programs to rotational workers, truck drivers, and flight crews.
Eastern, and Western Health can now begin the process of vaccinating people in those groups. Labrador-Grenfell Health has already begun the expansion of their program.
Central Health has yet to open up vaccinations to those groups at this time.
Questions have been raised, however, about the logistics of vaccinating such workers, as many of them may be in quarantine for most of their time in this province between shifts.
Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says the health authorities have been working on how to go about those scenarios. Ideally, she explains, if someone can wait until their quarantine is up then that is the preferred option. However, the health authorities are working on ways to do vaccinations if that is not possible.
