A man wrongfully convicted in the brutal murder of his mother 30 years ago is expressing relief that the real killer has had his parole – granted one year ago – revoked.
Greg Parsons posted to Facebook last evening to announce that Brian Doyle’s parole had been revoked and he was heading back to jail.
Doyle was granted full day parole last year after serving 18 years for the murder of Parsons’ mother, Catherine Carroll, on New Year’s Day in 1991.
Parsons told VOCM News earlier this month that he was distraught to learn Doyle was accused of violating the conditions of his parole resulting in another parole hearing.
Parsons was originally charged and convicted in his mother’s murder, but was later cleared through DNA evidence.
Parsons was fully exonerated. Police investigators and prosecutors were later accused of exercising “tunnel vision” in the case as the result of the Lamer Inquiry into the wrongful convictions of Parsons, Randy Druken and Ronald Dalton.
